On
April 25 1898, America declared war on Spain. The war took place in
Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippines, Cuba wanted it's freedom
the Spanish rule. A war broke out between the two, America decided to
intervene. At first President Mckinley wanted to settle the fight
rationally but then events started to take place that changed his
mind. One event that happened was the sinking of U.S battleship Maine
in Havana harbor on February 15 1898. The war ended in December 10
1989 giving America control of Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines
Cuba and parts of the Spanish of the West Indies. This event was
important to history because it gave spanish countries freedom. This
is related to other events because Cuba wanted it's freedom from the
Spanish rule and would do anything until it got just that.
