The first
woman's suffrage movement convention was in New York 1848. The
movement was started by Susan B anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton
and other pioneers.
This movement wanted Congress to pass a constitutional amendment
allowing women to vote. One way of trying to get heard, the NWP
(National Woman's party) sat outside the White house in order
to convince President Wilson and the congress to pass
the woman's suffrage amendment. Finally in 1920, the
19th amendment gave women the right to vote. This is significant to
our history because, this movement gave women a voice. This
relates to other events because women were finally free to speak
their minds.
